Independence Day Prayer

   Father we thank you for the many blessings You have bestowed upon our nation.  From the beginning You have blessed us with Your mercy and love.  Yet over the years we have strayed from Your precepts and laws.  A nation founded on the principals found in Your word now tries to eliminate Your word and any recognition of God from public view.

    Therefore we come to You and ask again for Your blessings upon this nation.

 May we be a nation that strives to live according to Your word.

 May we be a nation that accepts each other as Your children rather than focusing on our differences.

May we be a nation that provides justice equally for all regardless of position or status.

 May we be a nation that honors and cares for our parents and grandparents rather than set them aside to be ignored.

 May we be a nation where no child goes to bed hungry.

May we be a nation that honors the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.  Where abortion, euthanasia and the death penalty no longer exist.

 May we be a nation where our leaders work together to build a better nation.

 Above all may we be a nation worthy of Your blessings.  Help us to become what our national motto calls us to be,

“One Nation Under God.”
