Faith
“Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed (John 20: 29)
Without faith
we cannot know Christ; without knowing Christ we cannot know God; without
knowing God we cannot go to His heavenly kingdom. Without faith we will never find the pathway to heaven.
Faith is the
lifeblood of a Christian, without it the claim to Christianity rings hollow and
untrue. Faith not only believes in Christ
but in what He said and what He taught. If
our faith does not include believing in the truths He taught how can we say we have
faith in Him? And there's the rub.
Many who say
they have faith in Jesus do not believe all that He said and taught. They may believe that He healed the sick,
gave sight to the blind, but may question other of His miracles and
teachings. But faith in Christ is not a smorgasbord
from which to choose the ones we want to believe and ignore the rest. It’s a package deal, either He did what
scripture says, and was truthful in all He taught, or He was a liar and a
fraud.
I suppose
that’s what makes faith hard for some.
They want to believe in Christ, but they also want to accept and even
promote the lies society teaches about abortion, euthanasia, extra-marital sex
of any kind, and so much more. Being accepted in "polite society" is more important than standing up for Christ and His teachings.
Without faith
the doors to heaven are sealed; with faith they open for those who believe. But faith requires that we not only have
faith in Jesus as the Messiah, but that we accept the truths He taught and live
our lives accordingly.
