In His Hands
“For he is our God, we are the people he shepherds, the sheep in his hands.” (Psalm 95: 7)
Every now and
then I need to stop and reread scripture such as that quoted above. To meditate on it and consider what God is
saying to me in these words written so long ago. To remember that the whole world, myself
included, is in His hands.
We go
through the day and there are all the normal distractions that we feel we must deal
with. They take up our time and often draw
us away from the spiritual into the worldly.
Worry and concern about things we have no power over and cannot change
are a waste of time. It only serves to
frustrate and anger us.
As the old
saying goes, we need to “Let it go and let God do it.” That can be hard for us as humans. We are taught from childhood that we are to
solve problems, to set things right. When
we can’t we feel we have failed. But the
truth is there are many things that are far beyond our ability to solve or to
change. These things need to be placed in the Father's hands. For in Him, “All things are possible.” (Mark 10:
27)
We need to
take a moment and remember the old gospel tune "In His Hands".
It says it far better than I can. As the song says, “He’s got the whole world in His hands.” Rest in that truth.
