You Are Special

"You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother's womb.  I praise you, because I am wonderfully made; wonderful are you works!"  (Ps 139: 13-14)

Our understanding of self-worth is skewed by the sinful nature of the world in which we live.  We look for physical beauty rather than the inner beauty God has given us.  We want approval from our friends rather than from the Lord.  Because we are looking in all the wrong places our self-esteem suffers.

God has known us from all eternity.  He created us according to His perfect design and brought us into this world in His perfect time.  We have a reason for being; a purpose in life.  When we seek God in simplicity and faith we can better understand our purpose and strive to fulfill it.  In this way our self-worth becomes evident.  God does not make mistakes; all He does is perfect.  Our best hope of knowing and being confident in our place in this world is to accept that God created us for a reason and that reason alone is all the self-worth and confidence we need.

It doesn't matter if the world sees our beauty or worth.  All that matters is knowing that we are a creation of God.  There is no greater worth than to love and serve Him.  Let the world think what it wants; know that God has made you special to Him.
