A Healthy Diet
In order to maintain our physical health it’s important to
eat a healthy diet. We not only need the
proper amount of food, but food that provides those nutrients necessary to our
health. A balanced diet and exercise helps maintain the various systems of our body. They are necessary for good health.
Our mental health is somewhat the same. We need the proper emotional stimulants to if we are to remain balanced mentally. I
believe friendship, companionship and love are necessary for our mental well-being. A proper view of the world helps keep us from
despair and despondency. We need to
recognize our self-worth tempered by the humility of knowing that without God
we are nothing.
In many ways our spiritual life is the same. We need prayer, faith, and hope to maintain our spiritual health. Prayer keeps us in touch with the Lord
allowing us to better know and love Him.
Faith tells us that we are loved by God; we are His children in whom He
takes delight. Hope keeps us on course
even in difficult times. It gives us the
strength to carry on confident that God is in control even when it seems all is
lost.
If we skip meals or eat the wrong things we risk our physical
health. If we don’t know love, happiness
and joy we risk our mental health. If we
don’t feed our spiritual life with prayer, worship and love of God our eternal
life is as risk.
Father, you
provide all we need in life.
You give us
food and drink for the body.
Help us
seek the food needed for our spiritual health.
Give us faith
in you and the hope of eternal life.
