Turn to God
Always
“Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord; Lord, hear my
voice! Let your ears be attentive to my
voice in supplications!” (Ps 130: 1 – 2)
Why is it that we most often call to God from the
depths? He is there always and yet we
seem to ignore Him until times are bad.
We treat Him the same as some treat those they call friends; the only
time they are called is in times of need. How sad.
If we just take notice of the many blessings God bestows on
us every day perhaps we would be more attentive to Him. We should turn to Him in thanksgiving as well
as in times of difficulty. Our prayers should be prayers of gratitude for His love and mercy rather than always a cry for help.
God is always there to help when we ask but I believe it
pleases Him greatly when we turn to Him when all is well. Especially when everything is as it should be we
need to go to Him in praise and thanksgiving. Our lives should be filled with prayer in good times as well as bad.
We should not look at prayer as just a means to ask God for
help. Prayer opens the lines of
communications and allows us to build a family relationship with our Father; to
be the sons and daughters of God. Prayer can be as simple as a pause to say thanks for something good that has
happened or as involved as attending daily Mass regularly to worship Him in
communion with others. There are no
strict rules, just a desire to know God and let Him know us. If we live always thankful for God’s
blessings we will live a life of prayer.
Open your heart, quiet your mind and wordlessly come into the
presence of God. Let Him know you and
you will begin to know Him.
Father, You
bless us in so many ways.
In Your
mercy You comfort us and give us peace.
May we turn
to You always.
Forever
giving You praise and thanksgiving.
Amen
