The Day is
Coming
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass
away. But of that day or hour, no one knows,
neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.”
(Mark 13: 31 – 33)
The time is coming.
The end will come when we least expect it. It could be the final end in preparation for
the return of the Lord or it could be our own personal end. Either way, all we know and love in this
world will cease to exist.
Of all the things that we can prepare for, the end of life as
we know it is, by far, the only one that truly deserves our focus. The pleasures and joys of this world are gifts
of God and properly enjoying them is fine as long as we recognize that they are
not lasting and of little real importance.
“What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has
not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” God has given us many gifts and blessings in
this world, but they are as nothing compared to what awaits in the life to
come. Prepare now for eternity in
His presence.
We get so involved
with earthly matters.
We
sometimes forget they are of little importance.
Help us
focus on what is truly necessary.
Preparing
for eternity in Your presence.
Amen
