Darkness
“And this is the judgement, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.” (John 3: 19)
There is a
darkness in this world, the darkness of sin.
Jesus is the light of the world, but the world prefers the darkness. They prefer their evil deeds to living in the
light of God.
For many
years now, the darkness has been growing in this country and throughout the
world. There is a new paganism called “freedom”. Not freedom as it was intended, a freedom
from sin, but the freedom to commit any sin, any abomination. There is a world-wide move to normalize and
even approve of some of the most evil of acts in the name of this personal
freedom. Personal desires have become the
god of many.
Child
sacrifice is now the norm is most countries in the world. Babies in their mother’s wombs are sacrificed
on the altar of sexual freedom. The
elderly are more and more considered a bother, a problem to be eliminated. They are no longer considered worthy of love
and caring. They are sacrificed on the
altar of convenience. By exterminating
them, they are no longer a “burden” to society or their family.
Jesus is the light of the world, a light to overcome the darkness. As Christians we are to live in His light. But we are also to share His light with others. We are to be a candle in the darkness, reaching out to light the candles of others that they too might share in the light.
In Your light is salvation.
In the darkness is sin and the evil
one.
Help us raise the candle of Your light.
To share Your light with the world.
Amen
