What Is to Come
“Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be His people and God will always be with them as their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing of pain, for the old order has passed away. (Rev 21: 2 – 4)
This world
is a wonderful place, full of good things.
It is God’s creation and God does not create anything that is not good. From the beginning He told us this. Genesis tells that in every act of creation God
saw, “that it was good.” (see Genesis 1).
There was nothing created that was not good. Evil was born of the sinful pride of mankind.
We are to be
what Adam and Eve were intended to be, care-takers of God’s creation. It is our responsibility to use and enjoy all
that God created, but to do so in the manner for which they were created. We are good at using and enjoying His creation,
but we have failed miserably in doing so as God intended. We use it to our own desires rather than His.
But God
promises a new heaven and a new earth. A
place where there will be no more sorrow, no more death. A place where we will know the joy of love in
its perfection, love of God and love of neighbor without limit. A place where we will see Him as He truly is
and be reunited with those loved ones who have gone before us. In this new heaven and new earth God’s
creation will be as it was intended to be from the beginning.
Live life as if this new world is coming today, for it may well be. Only God knows the date and time. By living each day as if it is our last, we will be prepared to take our place in the eternal Eden God has prepared.
We have so perverted Your ways.
We misuse Your gifts and Your
creation.
Open our eyes to Your plan.
Take us to a new heaven and a new earth.
Amen
